Production Equipment
Here is a list of the equipment and software that I use to create my videos! These are not the only products or programs you can use but they are what I’ve grown accustomed to and know how to use well! Hopefully this helps anyone aspiring to get into video making and make the initial steps less daunting.
Happy Creating!
Filming:
Canon M50 Mirrorless Camera
I have used this camera for over a decade and have loved it. Even while in my university film program I was able to achieve high quality footage with this camera and the accompanying lens. It has the ability to shoot 4K (which I don’t often do) and 60 fps for any buttery slow motion you want to do. It is lightweight and perfect for filming on the go.
Rode Wireless Microphones
You don’t need the dual channel version if you are one person but I like the flexibility it can offer and it means I can always have one charged and ready to go. They have great sound quality and are easy to use.
Tripod
A tripod is required to film on your own. I’ve used incredibly expensive ones while at school and honestly, for filming Youtube videos this cheap Amazon one does the trick just fine! Especially with a lighter camera like the M50.
Lights
This kit comes with two lights that plug in and throw a lot of light. The adjustable colour temperature makes them great for adjusting your scene. I prefer a plug in light to a battery operated one because I hate when my lights die mid filming, but it is very much a personal preference. I have also added diffusers to them because the light can be a little harsh.
